Software Assisted Website Design

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

I would be the first to tell you that I am no programming expert.  In fact, if I were to code a website from scratch, I know it wouldn’t work.  Needless to say, I still need to get it done, so I have found a better solution: I use software to help get the site design done.

Thanks to the quick and easy web design software that I have found, making a website is no longer an ordeal.  In fact, it has turned into a pleasant experience, and thankfully it works properly every time.

The feature that I love the most about the software is that I can make a professional looking site, complete with a JavaScript menu without ever having to know how it works.  I just fill in some blanks, and I let the software do the rest.

Though the design part is done by the computer, I just wish that there was a way to have the content written by it too - it would make my life a lot easier.

Sending out Job Applications

Monday, April 7th, 2008

During these last few weeks of school, I’ve been sending out resumes and filling out job applications to see if I can find a summer job.  I think it helps that I’m in my third year of computer science and it should be easier this year to find a summer job.

I have been submitting my resumes to many computer programming firms in an attempt to get a programming job.  Even though, I’m not a big fan of computer programming, I am good at it and they sure do pay better than flipping burgers.

While discussing where we were applying for jobs with my buddies, one of them suggested that I should apply to any New York Web design firm that I could find.  I had not thought of that before, and it would be a great way for me to use my artistic talents coupled with my programming skills to create wonderful site designs.

Even though I have not heard anything back from the programming firms that have applied to, I have had one response from a web design firm and I have a job interview next week.  I actually hope that I get the web design job instead of being stuck doing programming all summer.

Site Redesign

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I’ve been using the same design for my blog for nearly 2 years and I feel it is time for a change.  Even though I make a point of providing good content, I don’t want my reader to be bored with the look of the site.  It will also gives me the opportunity to try new ad layouts to see if I can increase the income that the site generates.

I have been in talks with a web design firm and I will be getting them to create a new template for me.  I feel at this would be the easiest way as the last template took me over a week to get it to work properly.  It makes more sense to hire a professional in this case so that I can focus on the business to generate the money I need to pay for their services.

From the preliminary screenshots that have been sent to me, the new site design will be a visual treat for the eyes.  I think that my blog readers will enjoy the fact that they are greeted with a new look when they visit the site.  I am expecting delivery of the new template within a week and I can’t wait to see the reactions of my blog readers.
