Better Deals in my Email

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

I have received a lot of spam email messages in my mailbox lately.  Not only does this tick me off, but it can become a waste of time as I am looking to find the legitimate messages that should be in there.

But once in awhile, there is something worth reading out of all the junk that I receive.  That happened to me today, when I received an email about car insurance.

I opened the email to take a look, and I was surprised to see that there were no links in it - just information.  They were talking about the possibility that I was spending too much money on my auto insurance and that I should check to make sure that I was not being over charged for the services that I have been receiving.

Searching for a site that offered free auto insurance quotes, I entered the information to see what I should be paying - and I was paying too much.

I guess I should pay more attention to my emails - maybe I can find more deals.

Ensuring My Loved Ones Are Taken Care Of

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

One of my biggest worries in life is that I die early or unexpectedly and my family has to suffer.  I do realize they will mourn for me but I am more worried about their finances.  Not only is paying for a funeral expensive, but if I don’t make a point of leaving some money to pay for it, it could be a burden that they carry for years.

So I’ve made a point to request a California life insurance quote online to get an idea of what life insurance for someone my age would cost.  I don’t need a whole lot of coverage, but I would like to leave enough to pay for my funeral expenses as well as the my family with enough money to cover them for a couple of years.

Looking at the quote I received, I realize that I’m making the right choice and applying for life insurance at my young age.  Not only does is lock me in at a lower rate, but may also ensure that I’m covered even as I get older.

Taking a Leave of Absence

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Every couple of years I try to go back to school for one term, take some classes, and learn something new.  I feel that taking the time to develop my skills and knowledge is not only invaluable for the company I work for but for myself as well.

One of my biggest challenges when I take my leave this fall to go back to school will be to maintain some sort of health coverage.  You see, my employer changed the health insurance provider and the company that we are with now does not provide health insurance to staff taking a leave of absence.

I have been forced to look at other options available to me for the short-term, and though they are a little more expensive them when I’m use to pay, the peace of mind that goes with having medical coverage is worth every penny.  All I have to do now is find out if there is a waiting period for benefits upon returning from a leave of absence so I will know how many months of temporary health insurance coverage with I will need.

Getting the Run Around

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

When I purchased my first home, I asked the real estate agent where she suggested I go to get a condo insurance quote. She gave me an address and a name, but was a bit surprised, as she had never been asked that before. She informed me that it was a great question though and thanked me for asking it. She thought it would be good information to give out in a new owners packet.

I called the number that she had given me and asked for Dale, the name she had given me. When Dale came onto the line, he informed me that he was currently only dealing with auto insurance quotes, but would be happy to refer me to a colleague of his that would be able to help me get the coverage I needed.

I called the number he gave me and got an office that gave out health insurance quotes. At this time, I was getting rather fed up with the run around. I talked to Drew, the name that Dale had given me, and he told me that he dealt with condo insurance on his own and would be happy to set me up. Finally, I had my home and my coverage to protect my home.
