Starting a Singles Club

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

It seems that most of my friends are single and that makes me a little sad.  They are all nice guys, but they are starting to get old and I worry that they won’t find a life partner.  Sure, they have tried dating and picking up women at the places we hang out, but in reality, they are just not good marriage (or dating) material.

So, I have decided that I would start a singles club to help them find local singles and get them on the right track.  I am pretty sure that they are not the only ones that are having problems in the dating world, and who knows, we might just be able to get all of them dates.

I am currently creating a "welcome package" for the new members which includes such things as dating tips, a list of free online dating sites, and coupons for flowers and restaurants in the area.  Our first meeting is tomorrow, so hopefully there will be a good turn out - I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Starting Out with a New Website

Friday, June 13th, 2008

One of the things that I really found as a challenge when starting my first website was being able to afford everything.  At the time, I was working part time and I only made just enough to cover my bills - that was it.  So in order to get my first site together, I had to eat more spaghetti to save some money for the domain name.

Once I bought that I thought that I had everything made, until I realized that I also needed some sort of web hosting.  I didn’t have any idea of where I could get that within my budget (I didn’t have a budget at the time), but if I was going to have a website to make money, I needed something.

It was at this time that a good friend of mine suggested some free web hosting that they had used in the past that was both very reliable and priced perfectly (free) for me.  So, I signed up and that is where everything began.

I still have my one site with them to this day as they have been very reliable.  Thank goodness someone offered this type of service - otherwise I don’t know what I would have done.

Cruising Along

Monday, May 26th, 2008

About ten years ago, I decided to go on a cruise with my cousin. I was young and I had never traveled before, so I did not know what to expect. I was really excited and I had the best time of my life. I was shocked and awed at how cheap I was bale to find diamonds in some of the ports of call that we stopped at.

I bought several pairs of earrings and a diamond watch for next to nothing. This was definitely the place to go and buy jewelry. I am sure that I could have sold those for enough money to cover the entire cost of my cruise.

When my wife started talking about engagement rings, I told her that we should take a cruise and get the engagement ring and our wedding rings down there. We went on the cruise, bought the rings and decided to get married while we were away.

Getting My Hair Back

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

One of the biggest problems with my self esteem comes from my receding hairline.  I know that it isn’t something new by any means, but it has become progressively worse over the past few years, to the point where it bothers me.

I have tried many hair loss solutions over the past couple of years, but I have had no luck.  In fact, I would almost guess that it made things worse instead of making them better.  I was just about to give up, when a good friend of mine (who is balding too) suggested I try what he is doing.

He told me that he has been going for scalp massage hair growth, and it has been working for him.  The place that he goes specializes in this type of massage has worked for him, and I can honestly tell that he has more hair on his head.  In fact, he is no longer doing a comb over, which is a step in the right direction.

So, I have made an appointment, and I hope to get the same results as he has been getting.  It would be so nice to have a full head of hair again.

My Wish List

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

There are not many things that I want in terms of possessions, but I do have a small list.  You see, you never know when someone will ask you what you want for your birthday, or other special occasion, and it makes a lot more sense to have an answer for them instead of leaving the decision up to someone else.

But, if you were to look over my list, you would notice one thing:  most of the things that I want would be classified as gadgets and gizmos.  No, I don’t want some oven mitts, or a nice shirt, I want something that I can play with and enjoy on my own time.

Some of the things that are featured on the list are a Rhoomba (robot vacuum), a Sony Mylo 2, and a Nintendo DS.  Sure, you could argue that these are all toys, and I wouldn’t really be able to argue with you.  But, who cares.  It is what I want, and it doesn’t matter what you think.

Talking About Magick

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

I have a friend that is a little weird - okay, he is different.  He is really into Magick Spells & Rituals and most people think that he is silly because of it.

Honestly, I didn’t really understand the significance of Magick Talismans until we sat down and had a chat.  I asked him one day to explain the whole thing to me, so that I would better understand where he was coming from.

I would almost wager that we spent the whole day talking about Magick and the significance of the various Amulets & Charms that you could buy.  It was a lot to get my head around, but I was sure to ask questions if I didn’t understand.

Needless to say, I can understand his view of the world now.  Though it is different than what I believe, I can see why he is the way he is.

A Welcoming Night of Good Sleep

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Up until about a week ago, I had short, unsatisfying sleepless nights.  I live in a home on a busy street downtown, and it never seems like there is a lull in the traffic or the noise that it generates.

What makes it worse is that I cannot afford to move as the prices of homes in town have more than tripled in the past year.  It is not only frustrating that I could not change my situation, but that there seemed like there was going to be nothing that I could do about it.

I decided to look online to see if there was some sort of solution to my problem and I ended up at a website that specialized in healthy sleep.  My first thought was that they were going to prescribe sleeping pills, but I was wrong.

You see, they sold white noise machines that would cancel the surrounding noise and make it so you could have a restful night of sleep.  I bought it immediately and when it arrived, I had to try it out.

It performed just as good as they had said, and for the past week, I have had a good night sleep every night.  It is too bad that I had not heard of the technology years ago - my life would have been much easier.

Her Last Resort

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

My best friend is one of the most amazing people in the world.  Whenever I am around her, we have so much fun.  In fact, if I wasn’t married, I would definitely consider dating her - she is the most special woman in my life.

But she has had horrible luck with men.  I mean, every one of her boyfriends use her and then dump her.  I just don’t really understand how someone so amazing can have such bad luck when it comes to relationships, but that is just the way it works out for her.  It makes me very sad that she faces the prospect of being alone for the rest of her life.

I suggested that she sign up for a few dating services online to see if she could find love there.  She wasn’t too keen on joining and felt like it should be her last resort, but she was going to humor me.

Though it is too early to tell if she will find true love online, but it is worth a shot.

Solar Power at the Lake

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

For a number of years now, we have been using a gas generator at our cabin at the lake.  The place that we are located does not have power lines, and when I learned of what that would cost us to have, I quickly decided that it was not really going to be an option for us.

So we have been using generators for years now, but with the rising cost of gasoline, it is becoming more and more expensive to do so.  In an effort to curb costs, we have been looking into alternatives for us to use.

After having talked to many experts, we have decided to install a solar system.  The way that the cabin is facing, we will have sun for most of the day, so generating the power should be easy.

We have scheduled to have a company come install it for us in a couple of weeks - I just can’t wait to enjoy the peace and quiet at the lake without the sound of a generator in the distance.

Reptile Village

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

My son’s favorite place to go in the whole world is Reptile Village. It is sort of like a zoo, only they just have several different types of reptiles and dinosaur replicas. He has been crazy about dinosaurs since he was two years old and the first time we took him there, you would have thought that we were in Disneyland.

His favorite part about the whole experience was the live shows. He loved to pet the alligators and to hold the snakes. I thought it was all a little bit creepy, but when I saw how happy it made him, than I was happy as well.

We have not been there for a couple of years now and I would like to take him on a trip there for his birthday. I know he would love that more than he would love to have a party and I think the experience would be all that much more thrilling for him now that he is older.
