Points to be noted for Puppy Training

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I had my first pet at the age of six. It was a talking bird. After that I had a puppy which was a birthday gift from my father. He was the first person who actually taught me about the basics of dog training. There are certain basics that all of us should remember before training a dog. The relationship between the owner and the dog is based on mutual respect and trust. Never resort to any harshness to control the dogs. You will have such a rapport with your pets, so that you can have full control over the dog at any situation. Help your dogs to socialize and this in turn will make your dogs acquainted with their surroundings. This is a popular way to familiarize the dog with the neighborhood. You should never try to achieve something by doing things like ‘breaking the dog’s spirit’ in order to subjugate it. Once you have built a relationship with the dog, you can nurture it with care. After all a dog is a man’s best friend. This is absolutely true if you ask me. Today my kennel has 22 different breeds and I share a rapport with them greater than anything else.

I Purchased A Horse

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

I am a professional interior designer. I was fond of horse riding from a very early age. After establishing my career properly, I decided to build a house at Florida. My father had purchased a property there. I asked my father if I could build a stable for two horses there. He was happy as he also loved horses. We appointed a builder and gave him all the plans for building the house. While the house was getting ready, I searched the pets for sale online. I went through the advertisement of different pet stores. I was unable to decide the authentic pet store and took the suggestion of my friend.

He suggested me to buy horse from findapetonline.com. I followed his advice and visited the website of that store. I was glad to see the collection of animals. After enquiring about the health of the animals, I purchased two horses from them. Now whenever I get time my father and I enjoy a ride on the horse’s back. The pets for sale advertisement are very helpful for the people who want to buy a pet online.

Changing dog food

Many dog owners when they find a new dog food that is suitable for their dog, in their enthusiasm try to change its food completely the next day itself. Often they are terrified with the results of the new dog food that they have selected. Interestingly, if you take a closer look at what has happened you will realize that the problem is not with the new dog food but it is with your approach?  If you have been feeding your dog with a particular brand or type of dog food, their digestive system would have got used to the food that you have been giving them. So when suddenly a completely new food is introduced without any warning, it throws the digestive system of your pet off balance.

Your pet will start reacting to the new food and will have symptoms such as diarrhea and stomach upset this is quite common whenever you make a sudden switch in your dog food. In order to help your pet get adjusted to the new food you must not make a sudden switch rather a gradual and planned way of switching will save your pet from all the uncomfortable symptoms.

When you want to change your dog’s food from one brand to the other or to a different type of food, make sure that your dog does not have any other medical conditions at the time of switching. If there should be any other symptoms like allergy, vomiting or stomach upset then first consult your veterinarian before you can change your food as this is not the right time to make any changes. Your pet should be in perfect condition when you change the pet food.

Even after your pet reaches good health condition, do not make a sudden switch. You must make a gradual switch by mixing the new food along with the old food. This way you are gradually helping your dog to first of all to get used to the taste of the new food and secondly you are warning your dog’s digestive system. Start mixing 15 to 20% of the new food in the old food and keep increasing the proportion of the new food and reduce the quantity of the old food day by day until you make a complete switch within a week’s time.

But when you want to change your dog’s food you must have a very good reason for doing so. The change of should benefit the dog. Do not change your dog’s food just because you came across a new dog food commercial that you found appealing. Switching from one processed food to another does not fetch any great results. The change will be a good one if you are moving from processed food to natural food. Even when you are moving from processed food to natural food make sure have a gradual change as discussed above. Our pets are more sensitive to their food habits than human beings so we need to be careful while dealing with them.

Learn More About Guard Dog Training When the safety of your dear ones and your property is concerned then it is very important to impart training to your dog to guard the house. This training will help him to safeguard you and your family against any intruder who dares to trespass your property non-permitted.  You have a big house with your dear ones living inside. You have spent much to adorn your house and a lot of valuable things have found their way to your living room. As all these are really dear to you, don’t you feel the need to provide them with proper security to ensure their well being? If your answer is yes then it is time that you get yourself a guard dog and get it trained for safeguarding your premises.  Guard dogs are trained to guard against any unforeseen or unwanted visits from stray animals or unknown people. They will attack, restrain or give forewarning barks to any intruder who tries to trespass your property without your permission thereby saving you from incurring any undesirable losses. Thus training your dog to guard is a requisite step for the safety of your house and belongings.  Training a dog to guard involves a lot of cautious planning and its timely implementation. The drives and the bites are to be taught to the guard dog. The obedience and the commands are also to be positively enforced to enable the dog to understand when he has to take things easy and when is he supposed to guard vigilantly.  Dog training to guard can be of various types. Also, there are different levels that depend on what is required to be safeguarded. Moreover, it is also dependent on your expectations from your dog’s reactions in various situations encountered. The dog may be trained to secure your house, business place, livestock, property, valuables or any particular area.  It is important that the dog has undergone a basic dog training of obedience prior to guard training as the former training acts as a foundation for him. It also helps him to efficiently catch up with the guard training.  One of the crucial aspects of dog training to guard is that the dog must be taught to keep indifferent to any other dogs (peculiarly the ones of opposite sex), mice and cats. Because if the dog is distracted by them, and he will lose his focus thus neglecting his duty. Then, the barking skills of the dog are to be thoroughly honed as it is the best way to alert you in case of any intruder. If the barking has no effect on the stranger, the guard dog is well trained to restrain or attack.  There are many training schools that can train your dog for keeping guard. These schools are tailored as per the extent of protection that you need. They test your dog for temperament and teach him fine skills of a watch dog. After this simple course, they graduate them to the next level that involves drive and the bite work. Then, the intensive courses of training incorporate teaching the dog how to protect the master and his family along with attacking and subduing the intruders. The basic aim of these dogs training to guard programmes is to inculcate strength, confidence and power in your dog and to establish a passion in the dog to protect you and your family properly. The watch guards have to be very brave, clever and committed. The best breeds of guard dogs comprise of the German Shepherds and the Doberman Pinschers. These breed of dogs qualify as watch dogs as they have an innate instinct for guarding.

First Step to Success

My husband would really like to start his own business in our little town and was wondering what kind of business that I thought would do really well. I instantly thought that he should open a store that sells pet supplies. We do not have anything in town like it and yet nearly everyone in town owns a pet.

Every time we travel to the city I come home with a variety of dog toys for our two dogs, Kaiser and Pepper. There is absolutely no where in town to find these things and my rough dogs go through them fairly quickly. I decided that to help him out, I would talk to neighbors and friends to see if they thought it was a good idea.

I got nothing but positive responses. One neighbor even admitted that she had asked Henry, who owns the local grocery store, if he could start stocking dog toys. He said he would, but never did. This made my husbands decision really easy and he spends all of his spare time now trying to find suppliers and fixing up the store he just purchased.
